Kind and confidential counselling in Poundbury Dorset and online

Sometimes life can suddenly become extremely difficult. We may find ourselves struggling with the intense pain of grief and loss, the end of an important relationship, challenges with adult children, or the very real difficulties of addiction, anxiety, stress, and depression. Often, these struggles may be rooted in past trauma.

The good news is that we don’t have to repeat the past. I offer you a kind and supportive space where you are truly welcomed and invited to share what is troubling you. Together, we can work towards creating a much calmer, more peaceful and stable life.

Learning to connect with your true self can be transformative. I’m passionate about the power of therapy to support personal growth, and love helping my clients recognize and recover within themselves the unique elements of their being that can genuinely bring them joy and peace, and the confidence to become their true and authentic selves.

Young Adult Therapy

Therapy for young adults helps navigate the complex transition to independence and equip them with coping tools for stress, anxiety, and identity challenges. Early support can prevent long-term difficulties, encourage healthy decision-making, and strengthen self-awareness. Young adults can learn strategies to enhance their lives going forward, helping them  to build resilience, confidence, and meaningful, balanced relationships.

Individual Therapy

Individual therapy provides a safe, confidential space to explore thoughts, feelings, and behaviours. It supports self-understanding, emotional regulation, and coping skills. Clients gain insight into patterns, build resilience, and develop strategies for life’s challenges. Over time, therapy can enhance relationships, self-esteem, and overall mental well-being as well as help clients manage mental health difficulties like anxiety, depression, addiction and recovery from trauma.

Creative Writing Therapy

If clients are interested, I offer the opportunity to explore therapeutic writing. This comes from my own journey of self-discovery through therapy, which led to the publication of my short story collection, Adrift. My story was described by Hilary Mantel as ‘masterly and lyrical’. It evolved from my discovery that writing, like all creative activities, can be a gentle, yet very powerful way to connect us with our own individual uniqueness, wisdom, and self-confidence.  By putting our perceptions into words on the page, or some other form of creative activity, we can uncover depth, meaning, healing, and new ways of being.
